Question blown motor with water/oil mixture...

now that i know a little more than i did about cars, i wanna fix up a volvo that has been sitting around for about a year now. it had blown a head gasket and definantly has oil and water mixed in the engine. after sitting that long, is it still repairable without having to replace the pistons, crank, ect, ect. how do i go about starting this project. THANX

If the mixture had anti-freeze in it it probably attacked the bearings ,etc. after sitting for any length of time. A complete disassembly and inspection is the only positive way to evaluate the work needed. It should, even in the worst case, still be rebuildable .
