Just remember that you have to treat that one new lifter like it was a whole new set and run the engine 20+ minutes on a camshaft break-in cycle to have any hope of not wiping out the cam lobe that the new lifter is going on. You are breaking that lifter in on an already broken-in lobe, got to do it right.

I bought a new intake and used the $60 FelPro rubber/steel intake gaskets. The blue smoke still continues with no change at all...[/QUOTE]

Are these the same intake gaskets that come with the FEL PRO MS98000T set? They are a GM replacement gasket and are a thick hard rubber like compound with raised ridges and a metal core. I just did a Vortec head install and had an issue with a oil leak from the intake port on #6. This plug was really fouled up so I pulled the intake because I have read about some vortec intake sealing problems. Also needed new lifters. Was using the 1255 When I layed down my new performer EPS the first time I did not notice till I went to install the valve covers that it was off center a bit to the left. I am thinking that the orientation of the mating angles was off causing a gap underneath for oil to enter into at least #6 intake, this time due to my incompetence and not milling. The second time I made sure to lay down the intake dead center, Used the gaskets from the 98000 kit, no sealant used other than the thick RTV beads between the block ends and the intake, torqued the bolts 11 ft/lb and have no more leaks. Just wanted to mention this cause these gaskets really were my "problem solver"
