A-body driveshaft shortening/measuring question....

I need a driveshaft for a '72 Duster but found one for a '72 Dart that is approx. 3 or 4 inches to long. I am going to have it shortened but need to know how to measure. If I slide the driveshaft into the tranny, how far should I pull it out before measuring? Or, does anyone know the exact length of a '72 Duster driveshaft?

I would ask the person who is going to shorten the drive shaft, he might want the mesurment from the trans output shaft to the rear yoke.
