Body Filler/Rust

I have a question for all the body experts out there. I have old pickup that runs like a champ, and the interior was recently replaced, but the body is shot. Looking at it, you could'nt tell because it has a nice blue paint job on it. But once you get closer you see all the cracks from body filler and some areas of bubbled rust. My question is can I repair the body filler cracks, or would it be best to try and find a donor body. I'm not trying to get it show room ready, because I know it will never be a worth alot of money, but I want a nice looking truck.

If you want it to look good for a few months, slap the filler to it......If you want something that lasts, get some new metal.

It all depends what the metal underneath looks like. Either the metal is rotton or the filler is cracking from a poor prep job.

If would just grind out the bad areas and see whats there.

Pics would help.

The metal is cheap for these trucks its not worth doing filler work. Why spend ten hours fixing a 50.00 fender?? replacing everything will be cheaper in the long run and it'll look much better

Well !!! Do you know for sure the body is bad ???? Or did someone do some bad body work .... I would strip the bad spot's and see really what's under there... Might just be a bad job... And a easy fix.. If it's real bad.. Then I would do like someone said..And just start replacing panels..

Any of the old chevy trucks are worth fixin up,If you DIY...The after market parts fit pretty darn good and a good used bed 3-500.00 You can restore the truck very cheaply...and they sell fast....
I like working on them...
