small ding example:
grind an area to about a 5 inch circle around the ding. try and get to the back side of the ding with a body hammer and lightly tap it until it becomes more flush with the front of the panel. if you cant get to the back you can you use a stud gun if you can get ahold of one. a small pin is welded to the outside of the dent so you can pull it out with a slide hammer. one the dent is pretty flush you can fill. you a good plastic body filler such as 3m. make sure the filler is not to thick. once is sets use a da with 80 grit paper to rough in the initial shape. if you notice pitting or low spots add another layer. after the 80 move on to 180 da and finish with 320 da. once it is really smooth shoot primer over the spot. once dry use cheap spray paint and mist over the area more a guide coat. then take 320 and block sand the area. if all the guide coat is sanded off then you are ready to seal and paint. if you have low spots(guide coat left in some areas) then you may need to use a good glazing putty to take care of these. |
