My motor is huge!!!! and so is the Tranny... Was keeping the firewall because of this, and am reversing the dash as you stated you kept the older dash and i want the newer dash, and seats. want it newer on inside (gonna have to fab on the dash a bit).

Still waiting on a Plasma cutter..........
Sounds like an interesting project.
I put a 53 Interenational pickup onto a 1980s frame some years back
and loved the final result.
Lots to consider. If I was you Id make a list of what you want.
Sounds to me you want an old appearing truck with todays comforts.
If thats the case strip the new truck down. Take the old cab and slip it over the newer frame. You maybe surprised how well it will fit with some mount ajustments. If that works just put all the works from the cab into the old cab.
As far as welding goes id use a mig with gas anyday (forget flux core wire feed mig as far as any stuctural stuff) Stick welding works good for stuctural if you cant afford a good mig with gas.
Theres lots for good people with good advice on this forum just keep asking questions Have fun..dont give up. Good luck
