Bonding rear view mirror
Hello guys,
I need to bond the rear view mirror on my 78 Monte Carlo. I bought Loctite 319 and read on the back side not to use it on Ford windshield as it could break it    Do anyone of you have used this Loctite 319 on Chevy windshield? Is it safe? Thank you, Ivo |
They sell the adhesive for mounting mirrors to windshields at just about every auto parts store that I know of....they come in tiny containers with just enough for one mirror. If you do not have a auto parts store in your area you could probably order it on-line from NAPA.

Hi Henry Highrise,
Thanks for replay. This Loctite 319 is adhesive for bounding mirrors on windshields. It is made in USA so I thought some of you should know it. I am in Europe and I hardly could find any of your well known brands here. Best regards, Ivo |
Guess i am a dummy anytime I needed to glue a mirror on I just went to the store and got some glue and glued the mirror..Never had a problem..one tip is to glue the little bracket deal on and leave it overnite then attach the mirror..

Sam is right on the money. Glue the mounting bracket on and leave it alone for 3 days before you mount the mirror and it will work fine.

And clean both surfaces exceptionally well with an oil free solvent.

As 302 said, but, clean the glass and the little metal piece with a window razor scrap to remove all the old glue. For safety, I leave the metal in the mirror while scraping it to prevent cutting finger, 's.
