Post Bondo over primer?

Can Bondo be applied over (lacquer type) sandable primer?
Also, will 2 part catalyst type paint adhere better over 2 part catalyst type primer or is lacquer type primer okay? Thanks

Your lacquer primer is OK. You do not want to apply the bondo over the primer, Sand or grind down to metal or other bondo before applying bondo as it has to have something to stick to besides primer. Sand out a larger area than what you will be working.

Generally, you should avoid lacquor products altogether. They shrink with age and are subject to top coat burn through and lifting. Use the new system of epoxy products. Bondo goes on metal only. If you need to feather between transitions of paint thickness, get a polyester spotting coat such as Evercoat or similar catalyzed product. They will not shrink.

Evercoat does make a two part putty that can be applied over primer. Make sre you scuff the primer with 180 first. But If you are going to need alot of bondo you don`t wnt to use this. It`s not thick like regular bondo. If you try to apply to much it will run.If you need alot do what Henry said and remove the primar first. The Part #s For the Evercoat is 416 &417.
