Boom Tubes

I have seen boom tubes but why? They look cool! Boom tubes- The header goes to 1 large tube then 4 smaller open pipes the 45 out from under the car like zoomies, I have seen them on race cars

A large pipe to smaller pipe results in an increase in flow velocity. The reason this is done is because it creates laminar exhaust flow which is more efficient at vacating the exhaust gases than the turbulent exhaust flow in a larger pipe.
