My search attempt turned up nothing so hoping someone has run into this and has the answer.

I replaced the power brake booster with an aftermarket deal that does not have a provision for a check valve for the vacuum line. Simple fix, I thought to myself ... just find an in-line valve, cut the vacuum line, and stick it in ... only I haven't been able to find one.

Ever see or hear of such a thing or know of a particular model car with that as original equipment?

You are talking about the device that holds some vacuum encase the engine dies and you need to stop quick.. yes? Vacuum valve. I think they run about $2.xx at most parts houses. Mine came with the Pwr Canister. Lots of times you can find them on the canisters in the junkyard. They are black and stick out of the canister. Just pull them off and clean with kerosene.
