Hey does anyone know how much you can bore a 402 big block chevy? Magazine articles say that it is possible to bore it 4.250 if anyone has done this with no problems let me know.

396 and 402 use a different casting than a 427,454 but I've seen them bored 080 and I know 060 is no problem, and heard tales of being bored to 427 but never saw one.Anyway back in the day a good 396/402 would keep pace with the 427s,and my advice would be bore it minimum and blueprint it.you'll be suprised what a good exact blueprint will do for your big block, the extra cost for machine work is well worth it
