Borg warner 4 speed
Hi, I just bolted up a 4 speed borg warner to my 69 camaro small block only to find out that the shifter rods hit the side of the transmission tunnel. I had the tranny in my 79 T/A which worked fine. I was kind of surprised because the tunnel in the 79 T/A is more narrow than my 69. I cut the hole in the tunnel myself (it was previously an automatic colomn shift) and everything lines up fine except for the rods. The shifter is not set up for a first gen camaro but i like the feel and placement better anyways. Can I turn the rods over and use them the other way? I think they would clear the tunnel but would that work? Or does anyone know where (besides salvage yards) I could get a set of rods that would clear the tunnel and be a direct fit to my tranny? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I think you can fix it with a big transmission tunnel fabricating hammer. Rich |

Trans tunnel
If you put the shift levers the other way you reverse the shift pattern

rods
Is it just the end of the rods hitting???
Are the plates that bolt to the trans hitting also??? Keith |
