Thanks for looking at our stuff. What year Firebird do you have; or, more correctly, what year is the transmission. Later T10s have a thrust flange on one of the gears, so a shim isn't used.

I'll get back to you on the info. I'm thinking 1976 or 78 I have 3 of them.

when its in gear in 2nd and I let off the gas the trans grinds(slips)

I was told there is to much play between 2nd and 3rd gear.

I can email pics to ya of what I have.

When you're ready to send pics, post them here for the benefit of people who might have the same issue

Sorry about the delay.

If you look really close in the first picture, thegear to the left has a thrust flange you can barely see. So no this particular trans doesn't have a shim there. How bad does it slip?

you need to completely disassemble the trans and inspect the gears. My suspicion is it just needs an overhaul kit with new "competition" synchronizer rings. However if the gears look worn, theyll need to be replaced. "roll" check them against the cluster gear and look for uneven-ness in the way they mesh.

OH kits are all over the map, price-wise. A quality one will be over 100 bucks and some do or DO NOT include the countershaft, so check yours too and see if it needs replacing. Mine come with all the seals, SKF bearings, bushings, 4 synchro rings, springs n struts, o-rings and a gasket set. Price is $137. Contact me via PM if you want.

I be a ST-10 guy...Thank You!

I have just completed a transmission swap; installing a 1982 Camaro Super T-10 transmission into my 1986 Corvette (replacing the DNE 4+3 trans) using a custom made adapter, signal generator, and [lenghtened] driveshaft.

The Camaro Super T-10 has the 26 spline input and 27 spline output shafts.

I have a 2nd 1982 Camaro Super T-10 transmission and the gearbox (OD assembly detached) from a 1985 Corvette DNE 4+3. I have been told that the complete gearset will swap into the Camaro Super T-10 case.

What all would I need to complete this gearset swap??? I'm guessing a new mainshaft...Plus the usual seals, bushing, gaskets, etc...

Thank You!

Greetings;

At first blush; Mainshaft, idler gear and midplate. Take a look at the yellow catalog posted earlier and compare that with a DNE list. I do not have a diagram for the 4+3. There used to be a guy in FL who specialized in them but he finally walked away from it.

We'll help you any way you can, but split this into a new thread please
