how much h.p. and torque can a borg warner t-5 handle

From what I've seen, about 6 strong cylinders worth. I know of several T-5 trannys that failed behind stock to mildly built V8s. That being said, there are at least 2 different levels of T-5 trannies. These may have been the weaklings. There is some good information in the knowledge base. If you have the tag ID number you can go to a site and get the full data about any T5 trans.

The good T5s live behind some pretty wild engines unless the slicks and clutches get too sticky and the driver is a clutch-Klutz.

There is NO substitute for a "PRO-5.0" brand shifter. PERIOD.

Please use sythentic ATF only. I have had wonderful experience with Mobil 1.
