Borg Warner T10 question

How much horsepower and torque is a stock T10 good for? If the number is relatively low, can it be made to withstand more? If not, who makes a good 4 speed manual good for 800-1000 Horsepower (with torque numbers being close).

A ST-10 in good servicable shape will handle about 600 hp max, 525 ft.lbs. Might get it to hold more if you send it out and have high nickel gears and pro-shifter syncronizers($1500+) put in. Secret to making it live is a clutch that slips a controlled amount(like the McCleod Sof-Lok $1200+) and tires that will slip. They are the fuse that blows before the tranny does.

1000 hp... you are strictly in the area of Lenco, Liberty, or G-Force ProStock and Pro Mod trans territory. You will have $8,000 plus between the crank flange and the rear end, it ain't cheap.

Is this for the now famous 1000 HP stock block Pontiac from another thread??

Damn, its famous now? So nobody makes a bullet-proof 4 speed? Are the libertys and g-forces limited to the clutchless units?

Strongest stock box you might stick in would be a Big Block Ford TopLoader with a pro-shift upgrade on the syncro's. Jericos design is based directly off of this design, and Jerico reccommends that over 750 HP their stuff is not what you should be looking at, you need something bigger.

The ST-10 might take it for a while with the suitable upgrades, but you would need two so that you could rotate them out for R-n-R.

I don't know about the "limited to clutchless" aspect, haven't looked at these in a while. Gave up on the stick shift stuff a while back, it's expensive to run hard
