all your vin # should match; at least the one on your title and a body number
post your results in the
55-59 chevy truck thread in this forum along with a couple of pics.
we like to see new projects all the time.
there was only the 235 6 cyl offered and 2 trans options; 3 on the tree and heavy duty 4 speed. i've never seen a 4 spd in a 3100 (unless it was a napco 4x4) but one of the guys in the above thread says he has one and that it is stock.
55 to 59 used a lot of similar sheetmetal on all those trucks; fenders, hoods and emblems were most of the changes from yr to yr.
all the cabs were the same some had big window, some had a small back window.
all doors and interior were the same depending on options order, of which there were few.
all the beds are the same: short step, long step, longer step, cameo 55-58 and fleetside 58-59
the big differences were the frames: all 3100 (1/2 t short) are the same and every part is available for this series truck.
make sure you have a 3100 frame before you buy any suspension parts or mods.
buy a factory assembly manual from lmc, it will be your build bible.
