Bought a new toy

Well today I let my self get talked into buying a new car...again lol. Since selling my my last 69 nova I have realized how much I missed it. So today I went to look at this 78 pontiac phinix (ya I know they are uglier than the 68-74 nova's but this was every hot rodders dream, an original owner old lady car. The seats and carpet still look bran new and the undercarrage doesn't even have surface rust which might not be to impressive for some of you southern people but here in canada its unheard of almost . It also came with all documents including the owners manual since new. Anyway first job is to get rid of that 2 barrel 305

Good for you man!
It's always nice to see someone find a new project. What engine are you planning to drop in after the 305 is out?
What other modifications are you planning to add to the car?
Keep us updated!

Mike

P.S.; any pics ?

Well having decided on the engine for sure yet but kinda leaning towards a 400sb and maybe a 700r4 with definetly deaper gears in the back. Its nice having a car that I can get one making it fast instead of worrying about fixing all the rust first

Did it come with the 8.5" 10 bolts like the novas did? Nice find, its always nice to start with a car that doesn't really need any cosmetic work.

Wow, you lucked out on the 8.5" 10 bolt. That wasn't installed on many 2-brrl cars. The 4th gen nova/omega/apollo/phinix are fun cars. Especially since they share the same subframe as an F-body of the same year.

One warning: the underbody is very weak on those cars, any power mods and you'll need subframe connectors to keep the car from twisting.

Nice buy

P.S. I don't think they are ugly, but then again I own one......
