bowtie head ?? and hp?
i can't find any flow data on my head. its a bowtie 2.02 1.60 64cc chamber angle plug casting 340292( driver side#). the passenger side head has same # but with a A on the end(340292A) and right in the center has GM 50. while driver has Gm 49. what do 49 and 50 stand for.I looked at different websites and they all said the same. (350 MID 70's Replacement Over the counter Hi-Perf Turbo Head) one website had it listed under good performance head but no other info.
could some please run my setup to get a hp estament. 350 bored 30 over (355) head look above has soft seats and triple vavle spring 10.5 to 1 comp cam is 308 410 lift thats all the info i have. the motor was built in 87 for drag racing if some knows what the rest of the specs are Holley 750 double pump edelbrok performer dual plane intake 1 3/4 headers to 3" exhaust i run 100 octane leaded gas so if you have any info on the head, cam, or HP let me know. |

Hello,
I agree with bobcarman it was chevys first real over the counter "race head" its really a pretty good head in my opinion. It was replaced by the iron BOWTIE head. Some of the modified classes (dragracing) require an iron production type cyl head and many of these racers prefer the 292 ( they were comonly called turbo heads) over the bowtie. I still have several sets on customer engines and they work well. Thanks Jeff |

the heads where made in the mid 70s but i know the guy that built the motor bought the heads from chevy in 1986 or 87 so could these be a updated from the 70s model or where they still selling the same head 10 years later.
no its got gas, but does like to run out. iam geting the worst gas mileage right now ive drove it maybe 3 miles up and down the street and have put 30 gallons in it.
