Thanks for the article. I never was much of a Boyd fan myself. But find myself sympathetic to Jo's problems.

Guess this should be a quick lesson to all on this forum.
Do you have a living will?
Is your family going to be looked after if you cross the line?
This is should be an eye awakening to all of us. How will your spouse deal with your shops when you are gone? Does your spouse and children know te actual value of your equipment and all the parts laying about the shop areas?
I for one suggest a runing inventory of the shop and assets on hand, and a copy of this in a safe place, just incase it is needed. I know my wife and kids havn't a clue of what anything is worth when it comes to my several rides and equipment that is in three different shops and storage facilties.
It's time for everyone to make a real assestment on your properties.

Maximo

Wow no will!!!
i am surprised to have read NO WILL. The coddingtons being business people as they where, what where they thinking?
I do wish Jo Coddington the best at this sad time in her life. She is a strong lady with many of people of influence around her . I am sure things will pull together for her. best of luck Jo.

re: Boyd Coddington's widow, Jo Coddington

X wife....I have not heard of her? I am sure somewhere along the way I have. sometimes so much drama gets in the way of these TV peoples lives I dont know who is who and get bored.

hope she is doing ok as well, after all the X was his wife at one time, and they have grown kids, got to have history there like it or not....know what I mean?

however wish them all luck in the days to come.

yoon

No will means "By Law" and that means State Law and who knows what transpires in California. It also means a probate lawyer probably will be involved and that means a big chunk off the top before any one gets theirs, including the State. Ex wife may be out in the cold, but Boyd's and ex wife's children will probably be in. Maybe some of our California members can shed more light on this from their personal experiences.

jo coddington

Very well said Maximo, made me do some serious thinking, I have an uncle that lives in California and the law states that anyone that does not have a will at the time of there death ALL propertys real estate personal or otherwise will be held in probate untill all if any debts are satisfied and if there are any articles left it shall be auctioned off to satisfy the court cost and probate lawyers, any tax thats owed to the state of fed.goverment etc.It gets pretty sticky, say your house is in both you and your spouse's name it takes an act of god to get a name removed from property holdings and such.Maximo is very right even if its just going through and making a video of all the possesions it will enable the family to get a good idea of the value, but most important is make a will,we are all going to go sometime and the family will have enough to worry about without thinking what am I going to do with all those tools ,that old car etc.
