Brake booster make engine die?

I've got an '84 GMC 4x4 Pickup that I'm trying to restore and well, I pulled up at a light this afternoon and heard a hissing sound when the brakes are applied then in about 30 secs the truck just died. I'm thinking the brake booster may have a leak inside that causing this. Does anyone else have any ideas? Someone mentioned it may have something to do with the cruise control. Thanks?

Yes, You need to get a new Brake booster. There a big rubber Diafram in it rotted and cracked. My Dad Elcamino Did this one time and new booster fix it.

Hey Bryan, doing well, Pontiac is still in the garage, runs now but I need to set the timing and lifters and that's a little outside my area of expertese ( if I had one). When did you pick up the 66? I've got to get this truck taken care of before I do anything else.

Got it about 3 yrs ago---shipped in from Idaho.
It is a car that I ave been aware of for quite some tim, so when it came up for sale---I bought it.

Just got around to doing anything with it though.
Getting painted a Bright Blue---98 Corvette.
Will be a 5-spd car as well.
