I am having trouble figuring out what brake booster my dad put on the 1937 international D series street rod. I have completely struck out at the local parts shops. I am hoping someone can help. I do believe the master cylinder is possibly off a Mustang 2. The truck has a Mustang 2 front end. Thanks in advance for any help!
That appears to be an early Fox body Mustang booster and master cylinder, as in early 80s style. Mustang II booster had a non-symmetrical bolt pattern, the lower left bolt was offset up more than the right side.
How much difference would there between the 2 boosters, from Mustang 2 And S-10? i used S-10 boosters and M/Cs on my 49 ford convert [S-10 front clip] and S-10 boosters on the 50 merc and the 49 ford convert both , one has ford 9" and the 50 Merc has a Nova rear. bob s
ps diamaters and proportioning valves worked well with Nova and ford
If it was me, I would use the dual diaphragm Mustang booster, NAPA pn NBB 5473207. If you want to use the S10 master cylinder, I believe you have to file the mounting holes to make it fit over the studs, and possibly readjust the pushrod.
