I'm plumbing my break lines on my project Ranchero. My local parts stores are VERY limited on what they stock and are of no help finding brass brake fittings. I checked the local Rupe's Hydraulics suspecting that was not their business but needed to try. There is a speed shop about 20 miles away I need to call I just thought of. I would have thought my needs would have been pretty standard.
Where do you guys get your brake fittings?
Here is what I need:
1. A 3/16" male/male coupler OR a "T" the is Female/Female/male.
2. A 90 degree with a male 9/16"-18 (goes into the proportioning valve for rears) coming out 3/16" female.
I always go to my local NAPA store. They have a large bin with drawers full of fittings. Each drawer has a picture of what fittings are inside as well as the size. Its fairly easy if you know what you need to find and pick out the fittings this way.
Most auto parts stores, but probably not The Zone, will have a catalog of available brake fittings from their supplier(Weatherhead or other brand name). The local warehouse will likely have those fittings in stock or be able to get them for you in a day or two from the manufacturer.
It is difficult to find a modern auto parts store with counter people that are knowledgeable and competant but they are out there. You might have to explain what a printed catalog is to some of the younger set who work there buit most stores do have a full selection of catalogs which you can go through to find what you need. You just need that one counter person who remembers or follows an old system called "customer service".
I agree with Poncho, however, I have encountered many so called Parts Clerks, that when you ask if they have inverted flare brake fittings, splitters, etc. They look at you like your from Outerspace, and always ask what year, model, make and Engine size is it for! ......... .........Duh!.....Rick

I have always liked to think of myself as that type of counter person. Weatherhead Catalog See Hydraulic Brake Fittings section which begins on page 123 (page 125 of PDF file)
We used to stock Weatherhead at the NAPA store I managed here in Olds.

Well... "seems simple" is a relative term. The problem is that there are lots of PIPE thread fittings, but PIPE thread is different than TUBE thread.
1.) Part # 302 x 3 -- 3/16 female inverted flare coupler. Joins 2 pieces of tubing (with male ends) together, right? (That's simple enough.)
The only inverted seat tee (Male Branch Tee) that I see has PIPE thread on the male part. 602 x __ on page 35 (PDF page 37)
2.) I don't think I've ever seen a 90° brake fitting. (There are inverted / PIPE thread fittings #402 x __ on page 34, PDF page 36)
I'm thinking a #7933 "trailer towing tee", followed by a #7911 adapter, and finally a #131 x 3 plug MIGHT do it.
-- The #131 x 3 inverted plug is on pg 32 (PDF page 34)
#7933, #7904, #131 x 4 combination might also work?
Have a look at the catalog (link in my previous post) and tell me what you think.
HTH,
Don
