Would a 16 yr old punk kid with hardly any tools like me be able to change rear disc brakes on a 94 dodge intrepid?(yea i know..its no where near a hotrod or classic car, but its what im pushing right now). I have no prior experience changing brakes, but id like to learn one way or another (by trial and error, or from someone else) Any tips would be much appreciated :)

I would say if you want to, you can without and trouble at all. It may take you 30-60mins, but the next time you will know how and be able to change them in 5. The only "odd" tool you may need is a C clamp...if that's odd. Have fun

Be advised that the rear piston must be (turned) back into the caliper with a special service tool as it is on a ratchet for proper hand brake operation. You try to press it back in with a c-clamp and the ratcheting mechanism will be damaged costing big bucks.
You also have the option of buying rebuilt loaded calipers and they would just be a bolt on (but requires system bleeding).
You first to need to find factual repair information (shop/repair manual) and go from there.

hey...interesting point there. Are all newer cars with rear disc manufactured in this fasion? I hope you didn't take my advice. Sorry about that. Come to think of it I have never changed rear disc brakes ( only front ) didn't even think of e-brake mechanism working like this

Thanks for all teh advice..I was talking to my friend matt who knows a biut about cars and asked him if he could help me out. He said he had that service tool that u need to move the rear piston. He said if you move it slow, then you wont have to bleed it at all. I dont think im gonna try this one yet, Ill get someone who knows how to do it, and ill watch em :)

I didn't mean to scare you off but just bring up a point. If you get the proper service literature, the job isn't as difficult as you think and it is the only way to learn.

thats my advise to, get a service manual and read it through a few times before you dive in good luck :cool:
