Brake fade

I have a 350 sbc in my 83 jeep cj with a mild cam. I have 8lbs vacuume to my brake booster. I know they require much more, before engine install brakes were good, will an electric vacuume booster solve this problem?? Would like to get a few ideas before I spend money, and still have the same problem. Just a little more info to add, when I first step on brake pedal its ok, after you have to brake your leg to get it to stop.
