if it is still spongy you still have air in there chances are..... on the second hand it could be a bad rebuilt part which really in my opinion sounds about right if it starts hard then eases up. That is probably the fluid getting around the pistion at certain location in the cylinder. Not to be a smart *** but I think your life or the people you might hit are worth more than the 75.00 bucks you saved. Some items are not the ideal candidates to buy rebuilts of. Remember that they can not remanufacturer loose tolerance in cases like this. I learned this lesson on a Bosch starter for a Ford F350 Diesel....
