Helrazr:

It turns out it was the turn signal switch that was causing the left brake light to not work. I never would have guessed that on my own.

I replaced the switch. Of course, the switch doesn't exactly fit the "shroud" that was on the steering column, so the wires and gadgets are all exposed. Oh well, I like that "raw" look!

Hey 66chevy2ss

There should be two different turn signal switches for your model, or at least there is for the full size Chevy in '62. So it would just be a matter of getting the correct switch.

helrazr3, thanks for the kudos but you guys just wait until I really blow it on something and then I'll bet I get roasted good. hehehe

Thanks Al,

I thought maybe I could just cut another hole in the existing shroud!

It works, that's what is most important. Plus I don't want to spend too much here.

I've been reading the posts about brake lites and turn signal switches, Here is my problem.. new wiring kit installed..turn signals work..brake lites work until I turn on the turn signal..then the turn signal works but the opposite brake lite goes out.Could this problem be the same fix (ie) put in a new switch? ....GK Thanks for your expertise
