Brake valves missing

I took on a 47 Ford coupe 302cuin AOD trans. as a repair job for no rear brakes. I discover there is no metering or proprotioning valve in the system. And I verified the rear brakes are not activating. I'm thinking I could install a adjustable proportioning valve in the back, but I'm not sure about the metering valve for the front. Are there certian types you have to have?

1) we don't know what braking system you have, front and rear, no guessing allowed.

2) if the rears are not working at all, that is the first consideration. Worry about the valves later.
