Hey all,

This is not my hot rod but the 2000 Suburban LT that hauls it occasionally.

The 'burb just turned 55K miles and has worn out the second set of REAR brake pads. The front set of pads is still the factory original and are only half worn. It is a 4 wheel anti-lock disk brake set up and has the tow package from the factory.

The brakes have always felt a little soft to me, not bad but soft. However i am not the primary driver, the wife is, and i'm not used to having to stop 6,300 lbs.

Would having the tow package cause it to wear the rear pads this heavily? Or is there something wrong with the computer controlled proportioning valve? Any Ideas?

I found out, via the internet, that 2000 was the first year for the "new standard 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with Dynamic Rear Proportioning (DRP)".... Could this be the culprit?
