JUST INSTALLED SSBC 12 IN DISC BRAKES ON MY 67 CHEVELLE--IT HAS A HARD PEDAL--HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING THAT SSBC TECH DEPT SAID TO TRY--INCLUDING NEW BOOSTER--IT HAS A STAND ALONE VACUUM PUMP ALSO-MARTEL BROS. WOULD NOT EVEN DISCUSS PROBLEM--SAID IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM--ODES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGESTIONS--PLEASE

Just a thought does it have a softer pedal initially & then lose it to a hard one?
Does the motor have a lumpy cam?
Maybe a vac boost cannister, crane & comp cams make them!
Does the motor run any different with the booster connected, maybe vac leak at booster or valve faulty!

sorry just remembered you got a vac pump! that rules out some things i suggested!

Are you sure the booster is correct for the application?
The vacuum pump is working correctly and there is strong vacuum source at the booster inlet?
Is the manual brake pedal linkage the same as power brake pedal linkage?

Is the push rod on the booster the right length for the mastercylinder it must not push the piston when bolting up, most are adjustable, try backing off the bolts bolting the mastercyl to the booster to check

Sorry I can't help you but you might be able to help me. I too have a vacuum problem with my brakes. You mentioned you have a vacuum pump installed on you car. My question is where did you get the pump? Was it expensive? (over$200.00 or more) Thanks DaveForddriver
