brakes on spindal mount mag wheels?

i have seen this done but have lost the guy to do it.
has anyone ever or know how to put brakes on a 12 spoke american racing mag wheel?these are going on a 34 ford pick up street rod with a staight axle.i had a guy that ran at union grove wisconson that used motor cycle rotors and calipers.he told me years, makes, and models.he told me dimentions on what to bore the wheels out to too press in the piece in so the wheel don't crack.i've lost this and alot more info in a flood years ago to say the least.i have no idea if he is still around, have not been to the grove in about 8 years do to a broken leg.very nasty break, alls better now.
anyway the project is getting going again and as you might know the wheels are not the easyist to come by and i DON'T want to screw this up.i know magnesium is dangeous as in it burns white hot, thats part of the problem.
if anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated!!!
we want to put front brakes on it cuz we will drive on the street.

I made the modification to a install disc brakes to a set of 12 spokes American mags for my buddy's 'T' Roadster Pickup back in the late '60's. The rotors were single solid discs and the calipers were from an English Ford. I fabbed the mounting brackets as well.

I do NOT recommend doing this modification.

The disc brakes will look good but do little in the way of actual braking. The disc area is too small as are the calipers. This would be true even if you used m/c components as you have suggested. The tire patch to road surface is also too small of an area to be much help in braking.

The unmodified 12 spoke spindle mount rims are worth more in original condition.

Something you might consider is the "new" bolt on 12 spoke wheels that have become available in recent years. They offer the "look" of the spindle mounted wheels while allowing larger drum or disc brake setups to be used. The rim width is also a little wider which allows a slightly wider tire to be used.

Speedway sells them, Ive seen other companies sell them as well but I know for sure that speedway has em. They arent cheap but Im sure they are less than the cost of the original real deal.
