Brand name Hot rod black paint

This has most likely come up before but I couldn't find anything other than John Deer Black Blitz , which I don't want to use. I know there is a Brand paint that is a proper Hot Rod black paint. I want a brand paint that I can buy that will be consistent can to can. I tried Omni black with a flattening agent , but it still looks like gloss to me. I tried different mixes with more or less flattening agent but it doesn't look much different. I would like a single stage Brand name paint.

Hot Rod Black

Medallion makes a Hot Rod Black which is a two-part enamel. I use it anyplace a satin black is needed( hood underside, firewall, engine compartment). It flows out really nice and is very durable and provides the perfect black satin finish.

I'd call this number and find out where your nearest Medallion dealer/body shop supplier is located. If there is none near you I can buy a quart and and ship to you.

Eastwood also sells a Hot Rod Black but it's a single stage acrylic and won't hold up nearly as well as the Medallion product.

Thanks Ron, I'll check it out tomorrow. I got a lead from another site that I have to check out as well. "Sem Hot Rod Black" Thanks again, Jack

This wiki article may be helpful to you: John Deere Blitz Black paint. It has a section that lists various alternatives to JDBB.

These guys make a 2K Urethane Hot Rod Black that works pretty well:

http://www.shop.thecoatingstore.com/...opcoat_c10.htm

I've used the SEM Hot Rod Black also and it works nice. Never tried the Medallion but if it is a 2K urethane it would have to hold up better than blitz black.

My son in law, is a painter by trade and has been helping me finish the body work on my car. He said he has used RM paint with good results and consistent as well. Thanks, Jack
