Which brand of tape do you prefer and why.
Which tape you don't like and why?

I like 3M cause it sticks well and peels off the roll with no issues.

don't know the model number. It's a bright yellow color. That tape rocks.

We use green tape at work, it's not the best imo but it works ok.

American Brand automotive in 3/4 and 1 3/4...turns tight corners , and sticks outstanding and to itself well.. Probably the one off brand or unknown thing I use they say it even cost less as if that's a factor..you'll never here anything bad about it cept things like "I never heard of it "
It truly is the Cadillac of tapes...

clicky --> American Tape PG272 2" Premium American Masking Tape 1 case of 24 - American Brand Masking Tape

The others including 3M's best, don't stick well, bleed under, lift at the wrong time, can't turn as tight a corner without ripping, harder to remove if left in sun or booth and go through a coulple heatcycles.. don't stick well to themselves and cost as if that's a factor..

I agree 100%, I have been using PG27 since it was first available in the automotive market, sometime in late 80's or early 90's, main reason is learned long ago avoid buying 3m at any cost but that is just my 2cents worth.
Not a big user but we go through 2-3 cases a month at plant in testing and at home I go through about a case a year of the 3/4".

About 3 years ago I was at a friends body shop out of town, we were after hours drinking a beer or so and he was taping a car, I offered to help, he had 3m, fought that stuff for 20 minutes and said, you tape and I will watch, I'm a pretty good and fast taper but I could not make the stuff work and I was looking like a beginner.

3M green. Sticks great, and the 1/8th inch sticks better on curves than the plastic tapes.

Jay I like the old 3M manilla and the 3M green and man are you right about the plastic tape I learned the hard way the first time I used it and the second time when I thought it was me and not the tape LOL You cant emagin being in the middle of doing flames and seeing a curve in the flame having the tape start to UN CURVE I'll stick to what I know works well for me LOL

I guess when you use any tape it becomes second nature and you learn the characteristics and when changing or using something else its a learning curve! So to you that your tape works for your methods stay with the brand you like!LOL

Ya, I was using this 3M Green tape for some house painting projects and it just bleeds paint under. I don't like that at all. Good thing I don't use it for graphics etc on the car. Imagine what that would look like

I love the American tapes I use. Their AM tape, Aqua mask which is blue in color is my favorite. The OM, orange Mask is great also. The Aqua mask was designed for use with waterbased paint, but I use it for working with solvent base also.

Colad Tape.

this stuff is the best. No adhesive transfer, no creep back. You can mask around a dime with it. And stays where you put it.
