Brian's punch and grind trick
It works great. I can't give him full credit cause 2-3 guys told me about it before but he was one more testimony that made me curious. Maybe for some reason the perfect candidate for this trick eluded me for the longest time, whether it was a lack of seeing small dings going up, or the ding wasn't localized enough. Anyhow, doing a 07 jetta front end and mocking up the hood. Not sure how but I created a little peck of a ding going up that I didn't see when I was checking in the part. I looked at it and instantly thought, "that's it, it's perfect for the punch trick!" So I grabbed my spring loaded punch and gently pushed it down over and over checking frequently til it was even but erring on the side of being up. Then I took a die grinder with 40 and very lightly with slow rpm's and evenly grinding til any dimple or blemish were gone, Then I sanded with 80 grit
on a da(3/8"orbit) until all the grind marks were gone. Then went back over it with 240 (out of 180) til all the 80 grit scratches were gone and with the intention of prime. Not sure if he just sealed over it or primed but it looked flawless after paint. When the boss saw that it didn't have mud on it he started hand feeling it. :D:D:D:D
