Post BRODIX HEADS.....what kind are they???

I picked up a set of Brodix heads at a swap meet in Thompson, CT this weekend for $600 bucks!!! They are aluminum and the guy that sold them to me said they were 2.08 intake 1.60 exhaust valves. I am looking in the Summit magazine and they show 3 different types of Brodix heads for a small chevy. They have the "track 1" cylinder heads with the 2.08 intake valves. Then they have the 23 degree heads, they also have the 2.08 valves, And then there is the 18 degree heads with 2.14 intake valves. My valves are 2.08, I measured them, so that rounds it down to two different heads it could be. How can I find out which head I have?

I would start with the brodix part or casting number. I have never had a set, but I am sure there is some distinguishing numbers you can cross reference on the web.

I just gave my BroDix catalog away. They make a bunch of heads! Mostly for circle track apps. Find em on the web and call them. They're in Arkansas, so they're friendly folk. They are top line manufactures, you may have a bargan. godd for you.

If they are Track 1 heads, they sell new for about $1400 and up. The 23 degree heads are about $1600 new. I have a Brodix Catalog, so if you need any info, just let me know!! Brodix also has a Spec. Head that they sell with the 2.08/1.60 valves. They sell for $2000. Look for the casting number. That will tell you what you have!!

No, no , no....No violence was involved in this deal, I just shoved a hand full of bills in his face at the end of the day....money really does talk. I have some numbers that are stamped on the heads, If anything pops up, let me know. Ive got 653, 8R, 73, 0653, 8, 116, F1, 2481, and RILEY stamped in different areas of one of the heads. There is also a -P stamped inside the head between the screw in studs. The other head has; 116, F2, 24.1, RILEY, 8, 0151, 212, 64 X, JTRE, JT-4, also -P stamp on the inside. If any of these numbers make sense, let me know.

On the exhaust side of one of the heads, there is an 8 and also a 0 653. The other head has an 8 and also a 0 151. Hopefully one of these match up.

Is it just an 8 or is it a -8? Brodix makes a -8 and a -8 Pro, both are a 23 degree head. Both have the 2.08/1.60 valves.

Its just an 8, its located to the right of the 2 middle exhaust ports on both heads. Whats the specs on those heads that might be what I have? Do they require a certain push rod length?

Doesn't say on the pushrod length. Here are the specs for the -8 heads:

Torque Heads: 70 ft-lbs
Rocker Studs: 40-45 ft-lbs
Spring Pockets are 1.550 out of the box or can be cut for 1.625 (No larger or Deeper)
194cc Intake Port
67cc Chamber Volume
Standard Exhaust Pattern
Standard Valve Centerline
11.0 Compression Minumum
Camshaft can be Flat Tappet or Roller
RPM is 3800-6800
Recommended for Short Oval Track/Bracket Race/Pro Street

yea, I don't think those are the exact heads, my heads have a different exhaust pattern. It has 3 bolts in a triangular shape for the headers in the middle ports, and the outer exhaust bolts are on an angle. The heads are for a small block chevy though. Mine have 7/16 rocker studs and the intake runners look huge and they are ported and polished real smooth.

That head sounds like the -8. I forgot to mention that it also has the spreadport exhaust pattern too. So, it sounds like a -8. I have a pic of it and it has the bolt pattern that you described!! I'll post a pic in my profile, so you can see if that is what you have!
