Broke Dipstick

The ulimate clutze has struck again. My 50 for has a 350 Chevy motor. I reached for the oil check stick and it was hangin loose. Tried to shove it in and accidently hit the hot wires on the starter and burned stick in two. Looks like about a foot or more of the dipstick is stuck in block and pan. Dont know how far it slid into motor. Yall think its a danger to crank it? Could the stick piece hit the crank and ruin something? Probably best to have it towed to my mech and pull the pan? Opinions solicited. Not on my stupidiy---just best fix approach.
Dan

Are you sure it is all the way in the pan? If you're not sure where the piece is sitting, why not gently pull the dipstick tube out of the block and see if it is partially hung up in the tube? You might be able to catch it before it goes in all the way.

I would be afraid to crank it.
