Broken starter Bolt!!!! The worst Ive ever seen!!

So heres the deal,im currently rebuilding an 86 camaro v6 engine and ive been doing quite well assembling everyting. Ive replaced the water pump, the oil pump, the exhaust, the whole nine yards. Now, ive gotten to the point where im ready to put on my new starter, and i noticed that the previous owner of this engine had broken one of the bolts in the holes. Now ive removed broken bolts from holes before, and im not an idiot. but this thing is the devil!!! its about half an inch into the hole and ive tried everything i can think of. Ive tried heating it, ive tried drilling it, and this thing will not budge. ive never seen this before. the drill bits aren't even putting a dent in this thing! i have a full set of copper drill bits, cobalt drill bits, titanium coated drill bits... NOTHING!!! Like literally they wont grab at all!!! im not sure what this bolt is made of, but im thinking its quite the trooper! is there a certain type of drill bit i can purchase to completely destroy this thing? because i am stumped!

What about welding something to it, and turning on that? Would that be a possability?

My thoughts too, even Grade 8 material drills rather easily with a good bit.

I broke an extractor off in a frozen exhaust manifold stud today; pretty tough material. Tried everything, cut some brush, mowed a little and went back and poked a hole in it with a plasma cutter. I was able to punch and tap on it and it fragmented pretty easily after that. Completed the job, think that I will slip a magnet into my radiator though.

Yeah, or a broken E-Z Out.

Might try using a little torch with a needle point flame to get in there and heat the piece of whatever it is, maybe take the temper out of it so it could be drilled easier.

Other than that, maybe the only way to get it out is to EDM it out.
