Brown Sugar ???/opps molasses

Hi all I haven't been around in awhile seems like I have been going staight out doing nothing I guess ??? I have never heard of the brown sugar treatment until I came to this site .And I remembered it today when I was able to pick up a 489 8 3/4 member for my car today .It has surface rust it was stored in a damp basement it is seized but the rust looks very minor and I didn't force it any.I was thinking that I would diassemble it and put it in the blast cabinet and clean it up with the glass beads. But then I got thinking and remembered the brown sugar treatment and was wondering if it would be a good idea for this application? If so I was thinking that I would get a 5 gallon bucket and let it soak in the brown sugar solution .I remember that it is brown sugar that you would get at a farm or feed store but I don't know what tthe mixture should be . So that's what I need to know what would be the amount of brown sugar to put in a 5 gallon bucket with water to dissolve the rust ? Any input would be apperciated !
Thanks

I don't know about brown sugar rust removal but many people use molasses that they get at feed stores. Here is a link to a thread on this site:

Just about all brown sugar is refined sugar with molasses added.

I don't know for sure but probably. I think they suggest getting it at a feed store as it would be cheaper. If it isn't than it may not work. It may be worth the money just to try it out.
