Cool. My car has been there twice. The 2 years the previous owner had it. I went as a spectator years ago and had great time. Not sure if I could sit in line for who knows how long trying to get in the show. I wonder what the average wait is? And how many cars overheat in line?
I've been going to the Back to the Fifties show every year since I was a little kid. We just breeze in about 8:30 or 9:00. No lines, no waiting. We come in the west entrance and park in the "midway" lot in the southwest corner of the fairgrounds.
The only waiting I had to do was the day before the show at registration, which is at a hotel off-site and has limited parking which is mostly taken up by people who have decided to turn registration into sort of a pre-show, which causes gridlock around the registration hotel. It's a wonderful show. My only gripe is the clusterfreak at registration on Thursday.
By the way, I took exactly one picture at the show this year.
The gates open at 6am. I am staged in a parking lot around 3:30 for Friday and Saturday. Dont think this is crazy, cause there are a lot of us that do it. Its just part of the experience being there. Just another big carshow before the show.
I've been going since the 80's before I was driving. It's a will not miss show for me.
3:30 am. This year I was actually there at 3:00am on Saturday. Starting raining around 5:55 am so I didn't have to drive in the rain and get road grim all over the car. Simply had to just wipe off the rain once it quit. So it's only 2.5 to 3 hours. Yes, there is a port-a-poti there too.
Maybe that's the key. Go a little later because everyone else is trying to get in at the crack of dawn at the same time.... Thanks for the pic! After going all those years I'm sure the camera stays hid unless you see something that floats your boat.....
Yes, that lot is right next to the Larpentuer gate. There are a few other areas that people stage in too and then they are all let in 3-4 gates at 6. It fills up fast..
