Hey, Nos
Anything will "bolt right in" ... it all a matter of measuring to see how much space you have, going to the junk yard and measuring to see what will fit. That's it. Alan Horvath 54 Chevy Pickup |

Hey, Nos
I didn't know they featured my truck till I read your post! The paint job is the way I bought it ... it's called Dark Bronze - that's all I know, and it does describe the color ... but at night it looks like a dark cherry red. I get a lot of compliments on the color and I like it too, because it's nothing typical. I'll be getting some touch-up work done on the body this summer, so maybe I'll get a more accurate name for the color then. The gas tank, thankfully!, was relocated before I bought the truck. Originally, the gas tank in a '54 Chevy sits behind the seat in the cab and I sure wouldn't be happy with that! The "new" tank is 30 gallons (!) and was placed where the spare tire use to be mounted, under the bed, in the back ... and they did a real nice job putting a filler-door in the rear fender, too. I want to side-mount the spare tire ... right now, it's just sittin' in the bed. As far as seats, I'll be visiting the junk yard soon ... I'm thinking of bucket seats with cool power adjustments - hopefully I'll find a nice black pair that are in good shape. Then, I plan on designing a really cool console. I've already "started" it because, when I installed my Gennie shifter & hand brake, I had to build a raised (2 inches) "console" in order to mount the shifter boot -- the floor was too close to the tranny -- and if I go with buckets, I'll just add on to that. I'll probably build it with 1/8" plywood and cover that with foamcore and leather. I like the idea of a console ... someplace to throw my cigs, a place to put a drink, a place to store CDs and other stuff. And I wouldn't consider anything but my own design. If your uncle is that cool with wood, you should definitely have him build you something and install it -- it'll mean a lot more than anything else. PS - I like your truck, man! That's gonna be a sweet ride when you're done! Alan Horvath 54 Chevy Pickup [ May 26, 2003: Message edited by: horvath ]
|

I've got a bench seat in my truck now ... it sits too low for my liking, and it's beat looking, so I'm going to swap it out either for another bench seat or a set of buckets.
First thing I'll do is measure the floor area in my cab -- width and back-to-front ... then I'll take a measurement of how high I want my new seat to be. Then it's a trip to the junk yard to see what's available. Other trucks, Caddy's, Lincolns ... what ever looks good, I'll measure and consider. Once I have the seat(s) I want it's just a matter of removing my seat -- 4 bolts, I think -- and setting the new seat(s) in, marking where their bolts need to be, drilling new holes in the floor and bolting them in. Done. Alan Horvath 54 Chevy Pickup |

It's simple enough.
You can't see my pics???!!!! This is HORRIBLE news! I guess it's your computer or your internet connection. If you have a slow connection it might take time to load, but they should load. Do you have trouble on other sites? Alan Horvath 54 Chevy Pickup |

Wow. That's really strange, Nos. My site gets like 500 unique visitors daily and no one ever says the pics don't load ... I can't imagine what's up! My server is one of the fastest ... all pics are just regular Jpegs like any other site ... all like 75 - 100 k in size (not unusually large).
I hate it when I hear stuff like this -- maybe if you cleared your cache it would help? Alan Horvath 54 Chevy Pickup |

LOL! Now YOUR pictures aren't showing on MY computer!
Free space is usually a pain in the butt. I bought "AlanHorvath.com" and have it hosted with Hostway.com ... no problems and the lowest rates I know of. Alan Horvath 54 Chevy Pickup |
