Buckets and Console

Does any one know what bucket seats I could put in the Monte Carlo?
I'm taking a bench seat, column shift 1970 Monte Carlo, and changing it to buckets and console. I don't care what the buckets come out of, as long as they fit and are comfortable, this'll be my everyday, 1000 mile see the family trip every couple of months, car. I do want as close to a factory A-body console as I can get though. I can't afford the new ones ( $300!!!) and have no idea where to get shift linkage to make the change. Any body have any ideas? I've heard 80's mustangs will fit, 73 and up A bodies. G bodies, etc. Just have no idea what it would take to make any of these fit!

You will probably have to fab some kind of adapter, but, Have you considered the buckets out of a Saturn? They are pretty comfy, and they do have some in leather. Plus I think they will be cheaper then mustang buckets. They are high backs with head rests.

Not sure on console though you could build a custom one. Wood, cloth fiberglass. There are companies that make shifters and linkages that could be put in. That way you could adjust it fit your seats perfectly.

I'd suggest visiting a junk yard and doing some measuring before buying.

console & buckets

I just took out my bench seats from my 87 monte and moved the shifter to the floor.
With the shifter, when you order the new shifter that you want what ever it may be look at the bracket that comes with it to mount the cable, compare it side by side with the original bracket and you will see what you have to do to modify the factory one so as you can keep your back up and nuetral switches and also the gear indicator on you dash.

The bucket seats I can recommend a great website of a company in California, the website is www.newsales.com they are the manufacturers of all types of high quality seats and they have a seat just for you they only recently have statred to sell to the public.
good luck
