The sonic test tells you the thickness of the deck. It does not tell you whether the shaved deck will create any problem. All that is strickly (uneducated) opinion.

The deck thickness is not a issue or a problem . They don't crack there. They crack between the valve seats., when they do crack.

This is a easy 12sec performer when built right. But will not perform as it can if it gets dummied down by "experts and opinions". Shave the frittin heads right to the edge of the NEW intake valve seat (52cc) when using a factory dished 350 piston.
Or get flat tops (62cc)
This XE284H-10 cam needs compression and head flow. So it can work. You want 10.50:1cr

I can and do build cheap LOW COST 11-12 sec cars and you can too. Start by NOT sonic testing (wasting your limited money) your heads that belong in the garbage anyway. Anybody can build a $10,000 motor.

I can show you how to put this same combo in the 10's for peanuts.
The heads and details will make or break it. These heads work, when done right.

1000's and 1000's of racers shave their stock Chevy heas right down to the edge of the intake valve seat to get compression on a budget. Without a sonic test. Get real.

And SELF PORT port their stock Chevy heads (including the 305HO heads) to great effect without a flow bench.
You have a lot to learn Gary1. Hotrodding is a DIY sport.
