Budget Build ideas
I have posted this on Ozrodders here in Australia. On this forum I am hoping for some advice on the rear end spring setup and opinions of my plan for the front end.
I've decided to start collecting some bits to put the 36 coupe ute together (no one wants to buy it as is) as a channelled , hiboy style budget build. I have a complete 36 chassis rolling on original running gear.
Here's the plan, I've dreamt up so far.
I've done some research on the front end on here and elsewhere and I think I'll start with the original axle and wishbone but use 37 spindles and falcon disc brakes, with an under the floor booster and master cylinder. I've got the feelers out for a 49 to 54 flathead and not sure what trans goes easily behind these without clearance problems on the wisbone? I'll close the back of the cab in to make it like a pickup and run a simple body on the back. I need to find out about a basic setup for a parallel leaf deal on a 9 inch housing or 8inch ford diff. I have an original fuel tank and a radiator that will work. I am thinking of dropping the body to level with the bottom of the chassis and leaving whats left of the original paint on it. Sounds like a little Jap ute bench seat will fit nicely and I'll have to use a collapsible column, I am not sure how hard it is to fit a 39 banjo wheel to a Ford or Holden column but I am sure someone on here has done it?
