Buffing complete car

I'm almost done assembling the mustang, but it needs to be buffed again. I'm thinking I should run tape on sharp bodylines to cover the gaps between panels and chrome trim. Hopefully to keep from burning though edges, but also to keep compound from getting inside all the jambs and make it easier to clean up.

Is it worth it or more trouble than it's worth?
