How much does a buick 455 big block cost?

you can probably get a used one for under a grand but the mid 70's motors didnt have much more hp than your 350 they were really whimped out.

I need a engine with at least 200 hp... do you know where I can get one for a 1973 buick apollo

what are you trying to do? the rating for the 350 with a 4 bbl carb is 195 im sure with a basic intake and carb swap and maybe headers you can be over 200.

I'm trying to increase the horsepower on my 73 buick apollo

are you taking it to the track or just cruzing around town? if your just looking to increase performance i would work on what you have. what do you have for a transmission?

400 turbo transmission

i would say new carb and intake, hei distributor, headers and exhaust if you really want to go this far a new cam and lifters. im not sure how available aftermarket parts are for a buick 350 that can also determine how far you go with upgrades. good luck it sounds like a nice project car.

Does this car need smog checks
|
|

what state are you in? usually you wont need a smog check but in some states you need to have whatever pollution controls that came with the car on it. like an air pump or a catalytic converter

Maybe you should chunk in a Lunati 33202 cam and put a quadrajet on top, then dual exhaust for sound and performance.
Those 3 mods should boost you up where you are looking to go. Your big problem is partly compression ratio.Put in the cam and advance it some after degreeing it so you benefit the dynamic compression ratio a little more, helping your low end power.Tweeking the dizzy would be a definite plus too. I dont run buick but I amsure you could get the info on the dizzyyou need here somewhere. these would be the three easiest things to do for more performance, otherwise its time to tear your motor down and do some mods. |
