hey i have a 72 skylark and not a fan of the 350 in it and already have a juicy chevy 350 to put in. motor mounts are ant a problem but the tranny is where i need a little help. i read on here somewhere that you can get an adapotor for the chev 350 to the stock buick tranny? is this true or am i just better off ripping that out of there too? and input will be helpful! thanks
I have used the TCI version of the adapter plates in both directions: Chevy engine to BOP trans, and Pontiac and Caddy engines to Chevy trans. Worked great, just follow the instructions (what a concept!), and don't forget to use the hardened washer/spacers included w/the adapter.
In one case I had a high torque Pontiac 455 connected to a Chevy pattern TH400, in another I used the same engine mated to a Chevy 4WD trans/transfer in a Blazer. That had 35" tires and was a beast.
At another point I had my '81 Camaro outfitted w/a Caddy TH400 case w/Jaguar guts behind three different SBCs (327, 350 and a 377) and one 468 BBC. Beat on all of them mercilessly and no probs.
thank you very much gentlemen! and that would be a ****** blazer! heavy but ******! lol
