build numbers

hi bought a 68 camaro that was stripped down including th vin i got the partial vin off the fire wall and constructed the rest with a vin decoder sheetthe only thing i wasnt sure of was the third digit which i new was a three or a four so a cop buddy of mine checked both ways to see if it was stolen my question is how do i find out using my partial vin (ie serial # or build #) what my car was from the factory

Short answer is that you do the best you can with what info you do have..

I did find This in my search for info..

That sort of car that you have we can use to build a nice runner but it is unfortunate that since a lot of the info is missing it will never be a numbers matching kind of car..Most likely it is one of the fairly std models for that year..

Just what I can come up with..

I have tried most all of it and now do what is known to work..
