I don't know if you've ever heard of Jim Bailie of Bailie Customs (he's built some great customs including "Nadine - (best of friends at the Merc Deuce a few years ago) and others, But he built a 38 Lincoln Zephyr 4 door convertible for another friend of mine that's wheelchair bound. It's the neatest thing I've ever seen - the two doors on the driver's side open together hydraulically, and the platform rotates out and down for Larry to run his wheelchair in. The hand controls all work perfectly. The floor is completely flat - The rod is powered by one of those v6s out of one of those hi performance S10s that were out a few years ago - front wheel drive. If you want more info, I'm sure Larry or Jim would be happy to help. I'll try to get a pic, and post it at my album if you want.

Cool

Try looking at www.decorides.com , they produce Lincoln Zephyr sedan delivery package that is front wheel drive and originall designed to carry a Harley. They can build the unit (in New Jersey) or recomend someone in your area. You might contact Street Rodder Magazine, if memory serves correctley they had a feature on a mid 30's Dodge humpback panel that was used by someone confined to a wheelchair. I think the rear door was hinged at the bottom and became a ramp. I can try and find the article if you need it.

danker-
Sounds like a pretty sweet sleeping setup you have! I'm over in the EC/La Crosse area. I'd be happy to check around and see if I can find a custom place that does good work.

Danker - if you'll give me your E Mail address, I'll send you some pics of Larry's Lincoln. It's the perfect conversion for you. I doubt if Jim would want to do another one - the time he spent on this was incredible, but the idea's there for you to copy. fivespoke47@hotmail.com
