Building a 383 stroker

What is the best cam to buy. I would also like to buy aluminum heads but I am worried about heat. Would powder coating help keep things cool, such as an engine block and exhaust manifolds? Thanks

We need a lot more info on your buildup, compression, intake and carb etc.... and what type of car, trans, rear end gears. Basically everything you can think of to give you a cam suggestion. As far as the aluminum heads its a mute point, they won't get any hotter that iron heads but they will cool down faster. And you wouldn't want to powder coat them or the exhaust, only use thermal or ceramic coating on the headers, its works very well to keep the heat down.

Here are over 100 dyno-proven SBC engine combinations. Pay particular attention to combos 11, 15, 16 and 17.....11 makes 470 ft/lbs of torque at 3,500 rpm's and would make a great street motor on pump gas. Just use the same components listed in the build and assemble carefully, using a squish of 0.035" to 0.040".
