Building 383 stroker, Any Tips or Tricks

I'm building a sbc 383 stroker. I have had the my vortec heads cut out to a 2.02 intake,1.60 exhaust. I have Eagle cast stroker crank and Forged 6'' rods. To go with the build. What pistons would you recommend . Thinking about the Keith Black signature series Hypertetic pistons. Also what rings

First you have to determine the operating range of the motor and what you want it to do for you. That will determine the cam and the cam will determine the compression ratio and the compression ratio will determine the pistons.

Take a look through these dyno-proven combinations of small block Chevies. There are over 100 of them. Just go through and pick out the 383 combos that make the most torque at the lowest rpm. You'll need torque with that heavy car, not horsepower and particularly limiting the motor to 5,500. Pay particular attention to the power difference between OEM GM heads and aftermarket heads. If you really want to wow the troops, spring for a set of AFR heads and follow the recipe in any of the 11 to 17 combos. I like combo 11 with max torque being produced at 3,500 rpm's.
