building another truck
I just bought a die cast 53 f100 1/18 scale and I want to chop it and build a copy of my 55. my question is has any one here ever build a die cast, I'm not sure what the medal is, I think it is a pot metal it feels to heavy for aluminum. before I chop the roof I would like to know if I can solder this metal or if anyone has any other ideas on how to do this I would appreciate them.
Thanks. |

This brings me back to another part time hobby of mine...Customized Hotwheels. I haven't had the time or oomph to build any for a little while though.
Back to the questions asked... You are correct, it is pot-metal. You can either solder the pieces back together(works fine) or the alternative which is my favorite is JB Weld. JB Weld will hold just as well or better than the original material, plus it can be shaped and sanded to suit your need. The next time you are surfing the web, do a Google search for Customized Hot Wheels and check out some of the tiny creations that people build. Hope this helps, Later, WEIMER |

Hey Weimer thanks for the info. I did a search and found my wheels and some other stuff now all I need to find is a 1/18 th scale TPI engine. Again thanks.
